Merry Christmas season, #bookstagram! I've been on a bit of a hiatus because my husband has been performing in our city production of the Nutcracker ballet. This year was his 19th year performing! . . Dance is a gorgeous art form and I love helping behind the scenes and seeing all the hard work that goes into something that make look so beautiful and effortless. . . This weekend he's performing again in another local town, this time with my little five-year-old cousin! 'Tis the season for showbiz in our house! . . I even found an Advent calendar with all the Nutcracker characters (plus showing off a couple Nutcrackers from the collection he's received as maird gifts over the years). . . Reading children's Christmas picture books with my parents every year is one of my most treasured holiday memories, so I was delighted to receive this copy of "The Prairie Nutcracker" from Artistree, one of the studios where my husband teaches dance. . . HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! The power of gratitude is truly astounding. It completely changes our perspective on life, ourselves, and each other. . . I first started intentionally thinking about gratitude when i was in a very dark place after a difficult breakup. My pastor's wife gave me @annvoskamp's book "10 Thousand Gifts." . . I started a gratitude journal, counting gifts every day until I reached a thousand. Slowly but surely, practicing gratitude changed my life. . . And while it wasn't a single day of gratitude that changed my life, it's still very special to take a whole day out of the year to celebrate blessings. Family. Friends. . . The dear women I serve on their author journey, who make it possible for me to live my passion, many of whom have become close friends. Authors like @maryweberauthor and @nadinebrandes who have encouraged and inspired me on my own journey. . . So many blessings in the midst of a hurting world. I am thankful. . . I HAVE TEA!!! It's truly the small pleasures in life. One of my favorite things is to curl up and enjoy reading the polished, final version of my clients' novels. The only thing that makes it better is enjoying it with raspberry white chocolate scones and a custom tea blend (hazelnut cream chocolate = delicious)! . . I had the privilege of editing this beautiful, heart-wrenching YA portal fantasy novel, Crowning Heaven, for @songsofheroes earlier this year. And I happened to win a giveaway prize of this custom tea, "Those Lindley Boys." If you've read Crowning Heaven, you'll know why I'm House Lindley all the way (#teamthrasi). . . If you haven't read this book, you definitely should. It has the distinction of being one of only two books that made me cry DURING the editing process. Grab your tissues and a copy of this book! How's your November #TBRlist coming, bookish peeps? I'm actually making great progress on my fall reads and am thrilled to be bringing you some awesome reviews over the next week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So far, I've finished The Scorpio Races by @maggiestiefvater and Fawkes by @nadinebrandes, both of which were great reads. (You can check out my reviews earlier in my feed). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also added another read, Mark of the Raven, which is a fabulous high fantasy read by Carol Award-winning author @morganlbusse. You can check out my thoughts in my review post later this coming week! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm almost finished with my re-read of the first Harry Potter book, and I'm on Chapter 12 of Siren's Song, book 3 in the Storm Siren series by @maryweberauthor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm hoping to finish those up by November 20, when Stars and Soul (an awesome-looking space opera) by @rosalievalentine98 comes out! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ P.S. Confession time. This is my first attempt at a book spiral for #stacksaturday. And, of course, I made it hard for myself by going with the fall colors.
